We organise rides to suit all ages and abilities. Non-members are welcome to join us. The emphasis is always on enjoyment. Beginners We do not organise rides specifically aimed at beginners, but we are always happy to give advice and encouragement to new riders. We can arrange to meet you during one of our short rides, so that you can ride a short distance with us, and gradually build up until you are able to join us for a full short ride. Many riders have joined us struggling to ride 10 miles, and are now able to cycle 100 miles comfortably. Please phone or email for details. Short Rides The ideal introduction to club cycling. Rides of 20 - 30 miles. Not always suitable for children. Please check in advance. Rides take place at weekends throughout the year and on Wednesday evenings. Some rides are "car-assisted" to enable riders to explore further afield. The traditional club run. A full day covering 50 - 80 miles at a moderate pace with stops for elevenses, lunch and afternoon tea. Rides take place at weekends and on some Fridays throughout the year. There will typically be two rides per month, one gently paced at around 50 miles, the other slightly faster paced at up to 80 miles. Some members enter events organised under Audax UK rules. These are non-competitive rides over distances ranging from 50 to 1400Km, to be ridden within set speed limits. Rides must be entered at least two weeks in advance. The section also organises it own 100Km, 150Km, 200Km, 300Km, 400Km & 600Km Audax events. DA Rides These are rides and social events organised jointly between the Alfreton, Derby and Burton Sections which together form the Derby District Association of the CTC. Touring Rides These are rides which involve an overnight stay, normally in Youth Hostels or B&B. Interested?
